Mini Tanto Neck Knife Build
- This is a stock removal knife so there isn't any forging
- I start with 3/16" thick flat stock (80CrV2 high Carbon steel)
- Cut out the rough shape on the bandsaw
- Then grind it to the final shape and add the sculpting
- Grind the bevels
- File in any jimping or blade knotches and smooth any areas that may be sharp on the handle or choil
- Heat treat in my Paragon digital oven and temper twice to desired RHC(60-61)
- Prepare blade for patina finsh
- Soak in vinegar to create patina
- Wash blade and oil it
- cut out kydex for the neck sheath
- Drill the kydex and add eyelets then thermoform to fit the blade
- Shape the sheath profile and do any final fitting
- Sharpen the edge and add paracord then its finished
